Litters

The Flatcoat Conservation Project is excited to welcome our first outcross puppies. These matings pair Flatcoats with other breeds and cross-breeds. We’ve selected outcross candidates consistent with the criteria outlined in Step 1 of the genetic rescue program. The decision-making underlying our first outcross litters are described in our FAQ.

Winter, 24/25: PNW

These puppies have been placed. Stay tuned for news of our next litter.

This complementary pairing of Flat-coated Retriever, Trout, and English Shepherd, Bro, promises healthy, adaptable and dynamic dogs, while also supporting efforts to conserve Flat-Coated Retrievers.  The litter COI is 1% and all puppies will be Embark-tested prior to placement.  Pups will be mostly black and clear of testable disease mutations by parentage and DNA profiling. Hosted by Flyway Farm Retrievers, Bellingham, WA.

Summer, 26: Midwest

An outcross litter planned at Yahtaris Flat-Coated Retrievers in Minnesota pairing Scotch Collie, Cedar, with Flatcoat, Raven. Stable, sound and versatile pups expected early summer 2026. Inquiries invited to Jess Sedivy Gunderson at yahtarisfcrx@gmail.com.

More information coming June 2025.
